Adventures and misadventures - Alberto Bonilla Rivas

by Alexander C. Andrade on 08/11/2009

In the forum disappeared once replaced for a time in this blog, one of our partner wrote a review of this book. This review vanished with the forum, since I did not want to return the writings of others to the blog, for reasons of respect for the rights of their respective owners. The forum, for those who do not remember, fell into disuse and only add my review I was left, so I finally decided to do a blog again, for restoring a backup of my old blog and added the reviews I had written the missing forum. The rest, unfortunately, was lost in the change of hosting when my blog was off the air for a brief period last April. andanzas Returning to the book I read was born since then, I must confess that this was the first time I read about him, although he had recently seen at that time in a used book sale. But it was only this week that I could get and yesterday I finally got to read it.

Summary

The hero in this story is a miserable condition dog who became a farm dog after an incident in the village do not want him to return, so seeing Toribio going down the road, hit him and adopted hereinafter referred to as master, despite the bad reception he had in the house, where he ended up accepting the end and gave the name Nero.

Himself cowardly, the hero of the story makes the ranch around Toribio the scene of his adventures, which included a chump co-star (turkey), a couple of chickens, a pig, a dead frog, a lizard, saints in procession, an occasional surprise in a sack, and even Bear!

Each story is short but rich in description and in humor.

Comments

You can not do a more complete summary without spoiling one or more stories, so I simply list the adventures of the way as I did, yes, invite you to read this brilliant book, a very representative sample of our country and the customs of our humble people from the unusual perspective of a dog "Avocado."

I should clarify that this is a fairly short book, and my delay between the last and this posting is due to interrupted reading another book to get started and finish it. I turn to my reading as before.

Mely Greetings.
The Unbearable Lightness of Being is a book by Milan Kundera, one which certainly does not read, but which is not very extensive.
Kundera's book stands out because its theme is a critique of communism in Eastern Europe. And in contrast, the fact that Kundera was active in the Communist Party in his youth.
I will try to read a fuller discussion.
