The last book in the series The Hitchhiker's galaxy, and that's only because Douglas Adams died before completing the sixth installment, which is a shame. A friend I met in the network died last week, week that he had actually started thinking about death, two separate conversations he had had with various people about the "life? after death. Dead and all of our projects simply disappear, stay in the air. Everything we did on our own not come to light again. The mood of the galactic hitchhiker may have continued, but was cut short by the death of its author.
This blog itself will probably not survive much to my own death, either because it gets to the end of the payment for the domain name or hosting. Only confirms the overwhelming statement that "nothing is forever."
Summary
This book has a flaw, and it is quite fragmented. Adams keeps track of Trillian in a parallel universe, it keeps track of Arthur who wanders the galaxy and has lost Fenchurch, and he keeps track of Ford Prefect editorial returns to the Hitchhiker's Guide to Galaxy charge for the cost of the report on the land which he wrote. But much has changed with the guide, including who was acquired by another company, which has a hidden agenda to it.
Opens with the beginning of space travel, when nothing traveled faster than light, with the exception of bad news. From the start, prompting the mobilization of such long distances were the wars and trade. In the case of war, it became the crew (and hosts) in suspended animation and sent to be awakened when they reached their destination, about two or three million years later. In general, the reasons which had led to the war had disappeared, but the warriors fogocidad usually not, so two million years later, there would always be a reason to start a new war.
One of these aircraft experienced an accident that fail do everything for it was prepared, with the result that the crew (and military) is awakened on an unknown planet, far from the nearest star to receive heat by such means , and no idea who or what they all are supposed to do, because their consciences were stored in the damaged part of the ship.
As I said at the beginning, we presented an alternate Trillian, Tricia McMillan in the alternate universe that returned by the portfolio when Zaphod invited her to go into space, with the result that the impatient Zaphod left without her. She is a reporter in his native England, but want to get a job in New York, where he traveled for two interviews, one with an astrologer who will ask how the discovery of a tenth planet in the solar system alters the astrology, and the second it with a New York television station is looking for an English accent for editing. Tricia down to the hotel bar to search for astrology that the visit later in the interview, but left the bag in the hotel room and, having learned that it must return the bag down without him. During his talk, is interrupted by a driver to take you to the interview with the New York television station, but that should not be in compliance with return for the bag does not, and his interview with the television is in for a disappointment because he can not even read teleprompter for not carrying your contact lenses which were in her purse. There he learned that sometimes it must come back for her purse.
Arthur, meanwhile, continues to travel across the galaxy next to Fenchurch, who one day simply disappears during a trip. And she continues to wander the universe from planet to planet and from system to system, until their ship crashes on a lonely planet and it happens to be the only survivor. It is in this place until it is found by Trillian, with surprising news. As surprising for the reader as to Arthur.
Ford Prefect by her side, realize that something strange is happening with the editor of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and with the help of a robot that after a disturbance, which always made him happy, able to enter areas of the building to which did not even know existed, and is increasingly convinced that something strange is happening. After a couple of adventure manages to escape the building, apparently guarded by Vogon more corporate-looking. Before escaping, it sends itself a copy of the new guide in which the company operates, and takes credit card which has been credited as writer of the food column, an appointment which Ford plans to pay dearly their new employers.
The copy shall be sent to the direction of Arthur, where he leads a quiet life, which surrounds them again in an adventure that takes them to ride on dangerous animals, to discover The King in seclusion away from and back to Earth where the "prophecy" Agragaj take place. Agrahaj is a being who knew in previous episodes of the series, which captures Arthur to avenge it, because in each of its many incarnations has been killed by Dent, or it has been near death when it occurs.
Comments
For work (the last 15 days have been pretty busy) it took me a little more in this book than the previous. In the whole series, I'll take the third book as my favorite. I'll take Marvin as the favorite character, which unfortunately was no longer in the latter part, and I stay with completely contradictory statements as true core of this series of books. It is a pity that the series is over, but as I said at the beginning ... Nothing is forever.
